Introduction

Offerwall now supports deferred deeplinking to advertiser apps from the “Continue Playing” section! Tapping an in-progress offer will immediately open the app if the advertiser has shared a deeplink.

Why use a Deferred Deeplink?

Deferred deeplinking streamlines user re-enagement by allowing them to seamlessly jump back into your app.

Looking at the numbers: 45% of all offerwall opens result in a user tapping on an offer in the “continue playing” section. Enabling a deferred deeplink for your app allows users to jump back in with just one tap!

About Deferred Deeplinks

What are deferred deeplinks?

A “deferred deeplink” is a link that can send a user directly to an app or a specific part of an app. The link “defers” users to the app store if they don’t have the app installed, then immediately opens the app once the installation finishes!

For example: If set up correctly, a deferred deeplink to a Spotify playlist would take you to the app store to install the Spotify app, then seamlessly open the playlist after you install the app and sign in.

Best Practices

  1. Use an MMP: Android and iOS have limited support for deferral and customizability of links. Luckily, most MMPs have easy to use linking suites with tons of customization.
  2. At first, keep it simple: To avoid confusing users, configure your deeplink to simply open your app. Later, try experimenting with linking to a specific screen in your app. Just keep in mind that all users who tap the link will be taken there!
  3. Don't forget to handle deferrals: When configuring your deeplinks, most MMPs allow you to configure the deferral behavior (what happens if a user doesn’t have your app installed). Make sure you defer users to their app store, or your website!
  4. Add attribution when you need it: MMPs like AppsFlyer also allow you to configure attribution in your links for better campaign management.
  5. On Android, bypass disambiguation dialogs: If you’re manually making links with Android App Links,. Make sure to use the autoVerify attribute to automatically open your app and skip the disambiguation dialog.
